Dave Koz May Work With Montell Jordan Again
08/16/2000 4:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Craig Rosen
(8/16/00, 4 p.m. ET) - Dave Koz says he hopes his performance with Montell Jordan on Monday (August 14) as part of a Recording Academy reception in honor of Congressman Steny Hoyer and other key Democratic leaders would be part of an ongoing relationship with the R&B singer.
At the event, which was held in Santa Monica, California, Koz and Jordan performed their rendition of Wham's "Careless Whisper." Their version of the song is featured on Koz's The Dance album, which is the Number 136 album on the R&B album charts this week. The collection has sold more than 203,000 copies, according to industry sources.
Koz, a 37-year-old Los Angeles native, told LAUNCH that he would like to work with Jordan again. "I would absolutely be open to working with Montell in the future," he said. "Generally speaking, my music has a lot of R&B to it--the grooves, the bottom end, the bass drum, the bass itself-- so it's a natural fit if you want to go just another step further."
Koz graduated from UCLA and released his self-titled debut album in 1990.
