Eve's Ruff Ryde Results in DUI Charges

Not such a great day for Eve.
The 28-year-old rapper (full name: Eve Jihan Jeffers) was formally charged Friday with misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 or above and failure to provide proof of insurance, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office said.
She is slated to be arraigned on May 17.
If found guilty of the charges against her, Eve could receive a maximum sentence of six months behind bars and a fine of $1,000.
The minimum sentence would involve at least three years' probation, a minimum fine of $390 and enrollment in an alcohol-education program.
The charges stem from her Apr. 26 arrest after she slammed her gold Maserati into the center divider on Hollywood Boulevard at about 2:40 a.m.
A Breathalyzer test administered at the scene showed her blood-alcohol level was over the legal limit, and she was taken into custody.
Shortly after she was booked, Eve received a seemingly improbable visit at the police station from none other than Sean Penn.
A police spokeswoman told E! News the Oscar winner was "visiting as a friend," and was not involved in the DUI incident.
No explanation was given as to how the unlikely pair might have made each other's acquaintance.
